背景
The Hard-Easy Effect is a cognitive bias where individuals tend to overestimate the difficulty of tasks they haven't yet attempted and underestimate the difficulty of tasks they've already completed. When people face a new or unfamiliar task, they might perceive it as more challenging than it actually is because of the uncertainty and lack of experience. This tendency to view novel tasks as harder than they might be is the "hard" part of the bias. Conversely, once individuals have successfully completed a task or gained experience in it, they tend to perceive it as easier or less challenging than it actually is. This perception is influenced by their familiarity and past success, leading to underestimating the task's difficulty—hence the "easy" aspect of the bias.
