Benjamin McKenzie Schenkkan (born September 12, 1978 in Austin, Texas) is an American actor. He's perhaps best known for starring as Ryan Atwood on FOX's The O.C. and NBC / TNT's Southland. Since 2014, he's been starring as Detective Jim Gordon in the Batman prequel series Gotham. He's also done some work in film, starring in the Oscar-nominated Junebug opposite Amy Adams, and he provided the voice of Bruce Wayne / Batman in the animated film adaptation of Frank Miller's seminal comic book series Batman: Year One, making him the only actor to play both Batman and Commissioner Gordon.
