"Dr. Ryland Grace是什么人格? Dr. Ryland Grace是MBTI中的ENTP人格类型,九型中的7w6 - SO7 - 794,五大类型中的SLUAI,Socionics中ILE类型。"

𝐑𝐘𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐄 - 𝐒𝐎𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋 𝐒𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍 𝐀𝐑𝐆𝐔𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 (1/2) In my opinion, Ryland Grace is a fairly straight-forward SO7. In this argument, I'm going to primarily be relying on the book due to it having significantly more content, including much more of Grace's inner monologue. Regardless, I will still be using a few moments from the movie to further prove my point. With that being said, let's begin the argument. Let's start with the core E7's passion of gluttony. Gluttony is described by Naranjo as such: > "A feeling of present insufficiency that seeks fulfillment in the escape towards satisfaction, pleasure and enthusiasm, that results in an intolerance to pain, negativity or frustration. Savoring without digesting: taking from the world only its most exciting and tasty aspects, and especially rejecting what causes pain." Grace's gluttony is very apparent, upon understanding the motivation behind his life choices. For example, the reason why he left the field of science to be a schoolteacher is because of the negative reactions his paper got; this demonstrates his habit of escaping from unpleasant emotions and situations. Subsequently, this same habit of not wanting to feel negative emotions is what explains Grace's lack of a romantic partner, as stated by Stratt in the following quote: > "You're a coward and always have been. You abandoned a promising scientific career because people didn't like a paper you wrote. You retreated to the safety of children who worship you for being the cool teacher. You don't have a romantic partner in your life because that would mean you might suffer heartbreak. You avoid risk like the plague (392)." This quote also ties into why Grace fits the social subtype of the E7 specifically: his desire to be worshipped by those around him and fear of his image not being validated. According to Naranjo, the SO7 is someone who desperately wants to be seen as good and seeks approval from the social realm. > "Naranjo referred to people of this type [the SO7] as "good children", the kind who seek validation of their image as good people through performance, kindness, generosity and charm, although he also observes that "behind every good boy there is a spiteful brat" that remains fraudulently hidden." Grace constantly seeks validation by others in the social world—such as other scientists and his students—for his image as a competent and knowledgeable scientist and poorly tolerates being proven wrong or being rejected for fear of his reputation being tarnished, which is exemplified by his reactions to the poor reception of his paper, his realization that astrophage was in fact a water-based life-form, etc. He also rarely comes to terms with his own selfishness, whereas the other E7 subtypes have a much more straightforward relationship with gluttony. I think a potential counterargument against my claim that Grace doesn't come to terms with his selfishness is the fact that he openly asserts that he isn't a selfless enough person to be willing to go on the mission, but I think this isn't because he doesn't truly believe he's a good person but rather due to his genuine fear of losing his life (which is a very human perspective).
