Laney's use of lead Fi is very apparent, she is all about authenticity. She values individuality and encourages Zack to make his own decisions. The question then becomes, does she use Ne or Se? Se is all about being open to new experiences, I think that if Laney were an Se user she would have been more inclined to accept zack's invitation to the beach and she would have been better at volleyball. Throughout the movie we see Laney tripping and falling on steps, going by stereotypes, that is not very indicative of someone with high Se. Si on the other hand is a function that's more likely to refrain from trying new things, it seeks comfort in what it knows. Laney had the same friend since the 3rd grade and she found comfort in staying at home watching jeopardy with her dad, over going to experience new things such as the beach or prom. She was closed off experientially, but we can see an open mind and glimpses of her Ne. In the beginning of the movie we see her talk about children in Mexico being exploited for their labor, when they are at the beach she brings up a fact about pollution in the ocean, later she talks about sexual harassment and why she always carries an alarm (very enneagram 6 of her).
