His first feature film was "Hardware" and he was famously fired from directing "The Island of Dr. Moreau" a week after the production began. He recently returned to directing feature films in 2019 when he directed and co-wrote "Color out of Space", a 21st-Century adaptation of the short story "The Colour out of Space" by H. P. Lovecraft.
