WHY are people typing her based on the show?! The book has literally NOTHING to do with it! I haven’t seen the show, but it’s incredibly frustrating as a fan of the book and the 1963 film to see people typing the characters without even having seen either. For context, Theo has no (stated) last name in the book (“just Theodora” is literally how she introduces herself). She and Eleanor (Vance here, not Crain) are NOT siblings, but strangers until the story begins. Theo lives with a roommate of unspecified gender, and had a bad argument with them not long before she left home (it’s generally presumed that this person is meant to be another woman, and specifically Theodora's partner, “roommate” being used to get around 1950s censorship laws). With Theodora being, as described above, implied to be a lesbian, her friendship with Nell has a lot of subtext to it, on both sides. Eleanor also has a lot of romantic hints in her relationship with Luke who, again, is *not* her brother. Dr. Montague (or Markway, in the film) is also very important throughout all of the story, whereas the series, I know, basically reduced him to a cameo. I really can't see Theodora, Shirley Jackson's Theodora, as an ISTP at all. WHERE is her Ti? And, although I know cognitive introversion/extroversion isn’t exactly the same thing as social introversion/extroversion, they still do overlap more often than not. Theo in the book is quite outgoing and carefree, especially compared to Eleanor. The page for the 1963 film has her as an ENFJ, which I could understand a bit more, though even that makes some notable changes to her characterisation, so I'm not sure if I would agree with it for the book. I'm sure the series is good and all, but it has almost nothing in common with the book, and it’s really frustrating as a fan of the book to be *constantly bombarded* by stuff about the show. It’s actually really put off wanting to watch the show. I mean, even the profiles here of the characters use images from the show *despite its cast basically consisting of completely different characters!* Okay, I'm done now, I'm done ranting. I don’t have any real analysis or typing of Theo myself, it's been a little while now since I read the novel, but I just wanted to give people some context when they vote on her profile (i.e., just… don't, if you haven't read the book, because *she is a completely different character from the one that you are trying to type*)
