Anatomy of the Brain

Jung's cognitive functions should theoretically be able to be mapped to specific areas of the brain. The anatomy of the brain refers to the physical structure and organization of the brain. The brain is made up of three main structural divisions: the cerebrum (the outer layer is the cerebral cortex), the cerebellum, and the brain stem at the base of the brain (which extends from the upper cervical spinal cord to the diencephalon of the cerebrum). The cerebrum comprises gray matter (the cerebral cortex) and white matter at its center. Gray matter is primarily responsible for processing and interpreting information, while white matter transmits that information to other parts of the nervous system. There is much more specifics to know about the anatomy of the brain, but this is just a general description.
