Mukuro is very tragic as a character. Junko, despite being twisted and manipulating her, also loved Mukuro. I belive that Junko wanted for Mukuro to betray her after noticing the abuse she went throught. The only 2 situacions where Mukuro could really be the sister she herself desired to be for junko (a nutring and lovely sister) was to kill or be killed. Mukuro herself was very fixated with Junko. She was a nutring and caring older sister in Junko's life, that after leaving her behind, came back and tried her best to be the sister she thought that Junko deserved. She was so caring that became unhealthy. All of her cognitive functions served to one person, and one person only. Junko. She didn't really wanted to be part in all of this mess, she just wanted to be a supportive sister she think she wasn't to junko, since she left her at one point in her life. She might have felt really guilty for that. it's seen how her Ne it's underdeveloped. Mukuro was questioning if there was more to life for her, if there was something for outside Junko. However, she only expressed that when Makoto came to talk for her. She felt happy for someone being nice to her in her life....basically, she was a victim of manipulation. Si-Fi loop clear as the sun. The thing more tragic about Mukuro is that she was a good sister, but cared for the wrong person... In the grand scheme of things, she was a narrative pawn to make Junko a greater villain. Similar to what darth vader was to palpatine. One of the reasons Junko is one of the greatest villains of all time it's because she had a tragic character at her side, Mukuro.
Biography
Mukuro Ikusaba (戦刃 むくろ) (also known as "Mukuro Ikusaba, the 16th Student, lying hidden somewhere in this school… the one they call the Ultimate Despair, Watch out for her"), is a student in Hope's Peak Academy's 78th class and a participant of the Killing School Life featured in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. Her title is the Ultimate Soldier (超高校級の「軍人」 lit. Super High School Level Soldier).
