HiMERU MBTI Personality Type

Personality

What personality type is HiMERU? HiMERU is an INTP personality type in MBTI, 5w4 - so/sp - 531 in Enneagram, RCOEI in Big 5, LII in Socionics.

[this is pre-Obligatto and wicked old, will eventually make a new post] Someone started to explain the current type consensus in a reply below, but I'd like to continue it with my own observations. HiMERU is most definitely an INTP, and his inferior Fe is very obvious. HiMERU often claims that he doesn't have the time or doesn't see the point of making friends, and even suggests that he is totally incapable of being friends with anyone (Troublemakers 47). But you'll quickly notice that HiMERU actually does seem to value other people's feelings and looks to connect with others, even if he has trouble with or is uncomfortable with expressing his own emotions. We find out that he responds to each and every one of his fan's letters, and even remarks that most idols wouldn't bother doing so. When questioned as to why he does this, he says that surely people would be much happier if their letters were responded to (Idol Story/2). Even some of the most extroverted of his colleagues and adversaries may not see the value in taking the time to address their fans personally, but HiMERU does. We see that HiMERU has a very ambivalent stance on the social world. He takes the time to perform niceties and small talk, even with the people he hates, and he’s actually quite charming when he makes the effort (Hidden Thorns). He remembers social “rules”, like, well, rules, often reciting them out loud (mostly to himself). But most of his social skills are performative and he is seemingly unfulfilled by interaction. His Ne is put into overdrive whenever he encounters an idol he’s unfamiliar with, and he’s constantly deducing how he should respond based on how they act (A Pursuit Scene in Plain Sight). Again, very reminiscent of inferior Fe; he uses Ne to compensate for less-developed Fe. But the biggest indicator of them all is how much he discusses not having any friends. The amount of time he spends proclaiming that he is unable to bond with others suggests some insecurity with the function’s usage. The inferior function typically serves as a point of internal conflict for the user, and this manifests so clearly with him. If he didn't value Fe in some way, he wouldn't even bother discussing it so openly. I think it upsets him deep down, and for someone who keeps a lot of his thoughts contained in his head, he can't stop himself from discussing his loneliness out loud, because it hurts him. I think the reason why he writes letters back to his fans is that it's a "safe" way to satisfy his Fe; he doesn’t have to commit to a friendship, but it's still a way to connect with others. I know some people will initially see him as an INTJ, but I just genuinely cannot see it. I understand where the rationale comes from; HiMERU's claim that he can easily predict how situations will play out could be perceived as Ni-dom behavior. However, HiMERU's insights come from observation of his external world, which is often associated with Ne. Ne is primarily concerned with finding patterns, constructing theories based on external stimuli, and predicting how situations will play out based on the environment the user finds themselves in. For the INTP, Ti and Ne work in tandem to deduce how situations will play out, with Ti narrowing down Ne’s brainstorming to form a precise, concise, logical response. Ne use, especially combined with Ti, can also result in pedantic, rambling monologues that don't seem to follow a linear path of thinking, but it has a purpose, as it’s how the INTP makes their decisions. If you've read any of HiMERU's stories, you will see that he is often toying with future possibilities either in his head or out loud, often jumping from tangent to tangent before deciding on the best course of action. By the book Ti-Ne behavior. Furthermore, I see little to no Fi in his character. Note that with the INTJ, Fi is the tertiary function, and this usually manifests with the INTJ having a strong set of personal values and a lot of self-focused and self-driven decision-making based on those inner beliefs. I just think that the whole reason he became an idol in the first place is completely antithetical to what Fi is. He's presumably taking the role of an idol on for someone else's sake, not because it's a dream of his, or because it would augment his sense of self, or because he believes he can contribute to the world with his talent. He's taken on the role to preserve the image of somebody else and he wants to fulfill that role as best he can. He’s often preoccupied with how well he’s serving the “HiMERU” persona, and is a bit insecure about it. He also dismisses his own feelings and opinions on things in order to better suit the role he’s playing (Past and Present 2). And if it came down to it, he’d sacrifice himself to preserve “HiMERU”, and settles on this without thinking much of it (Idol Story 3). That’s someone who values Fe over Fi, hands down. I know this was a lot, but I just felt compelled to share my thoughts!

Biography

HiMERU was originally a solo idol. He speaks in a manner that allows him to keep others at a distance. Both calm and gentle in demeanor, he's quite enigmatic. He sometimes appears to act in a way that's meant to confirm his own behavior to himself. With a singing voice that entices you closer, the allure of an adult drifts through the air of his performances, belying his actual age. HiMERU is a member of Cosmic Production's Crazy:B.
