When Dan found out he couldn’t be with Marie he fell into a depression and failed to see any of the good things happening around him and made it everyone’s problem that he was heartbroken. From my perspective it seems he gets stuck in a one way sort of thinking that either he’s with Marie and he’s happy or he’s not with her and he’s miserable, this makes me think he’s an INFP with an unhealthy thinking pattern. He gets obsessed with what he wants and won’t let go, he’s just lucky it worked out for him.
