What personality type is Tamon Fukuhara? Tamon Fukuhara is an INFJ personality type in MBTI, 4w5 - so/sp - 469 in Enneagram, RLUAI in Big 5, IEI in Socionics.
We mustn't forget that Ni and Ti are introverted functions, therefore completely biased by a personal worldview and focuses on the individual / identity; that's why they can sometimes resemble Fi . Ni foresight is combined with Fe absorption of others’ emotions; Ni foresees deep patterns and long-term outcomes with eerie accuracy or paranoia, without healthy Fe/Se grounding, this creates obsessive rumination on singular, converged visions / intuitions. Result: Overthinking that feels intense, tunnel-visioned, catastrophic, and symbolically heavy, They can convince themselves of complex, unlikely scenarios with airtight internal logic. This is why INFJs are often mistyped as INFPs (Fi-dom). Both can appear withdrawn and dramatic. However true Fi is about authentic emotional values and self-identity: "Does this align with who I am?". Fi types tend to remain authentic, while Fe types may hide their true personality to achieve their ideal. That said, I don't see any Fi in Tamon ? His real personality is the very personification of so4 but in terms of cognitives functions he's clearly Fe user, he's a people pleaser who has literally created a social persona to please his fans, he tries to live up to what people expect of him, it's not because he has very low self-esteem that he's Fi user? The tamonloser he really is is a facade we see a lot because we follow that pov, but in reality nobody knows he's like that because he strives to keep harmony around him, even his biggest fan, Utage, would never have imagined he could be so pessimistic and anxious in real life because his active persona is perfect. Tamon takes the needs of others too much into account; deep care for fans' happiness and group harmony; his core fear is failing others emotionally. He absorbs external expectations heavily, tying self-worth to pleasing people and is afraid of disappointing others. (Fe aux) He operates like a "battery"; he needs alone time to recover. The physical demands of idol life (dancing, performing, high-energy stage presence) are exhausting and stressful for him, he switches "on" Hottiehara as a mask but collapses off-stage. Se inf in INFJs often shows as discomfort with sensory overload or physical performance under pressure, leading to burnout. His ability to "keep up" is trained/performative (Fe), not natural enjoyment of Se activities. His personality when he's in "ON" mode looks more ESTP, which suggests that the order of his functions in "OFF" mode is reversed (ON : Se > Ti > Fe > Ni, which becomes OFF: Ni > Fe > Ti > Se). Tamon does not base his conclusions on objective logic, he doesn't base his reaction on anything « real » like a Te user would do but only on his own intuition/ assumptions. The lack of self confidence leads to an unhealthy Ni, resulting in a fixed and fatalistic view of the future and jumping directly to conclusions without even imagining alternatives until new information is included in the brain, allowing for the imagining of a more accurate future (making decisions based on extrapolating future implications). He constantly visualizes in advance what could happen, this anxiety about the future and his shame about himself paralyzes him and leaves him in a state of overthink and « passivity », which he only makes up with Utage’s support, for his job and his idealistic goal (to make everyone smile) , he tries to give himself the means to achieve it, even if it means hiding his true personality and taking his suffering upon himself, it's a bit of a logic of sacrifice, which is often found among INFJs. Because of Fe aux, INFJs absorb and mirror group emotions, they care deeply about harmony and others’ feelings. When hurt, rejected, or in a grip/loop: They can have dramatic emotional outbursts, Ni + Fe can create a sense of tragic foresight (“I knew this would happen; everyone is going to suffer because of this pattern”). In Ni-Ti loop, suppressed Fe emotions build pressure, leading to sudden intense expressions that seem disproportionate to outsiders. They may also articulate their pain in profoundly symbolic, archetypal, or “fated” language that feels very dramatic. Tamon is also very focused on understanding others to please them as best as possible; he wants to grasp the meaning of the emotions he feels and the love he receives. He learns to know himself better through others. This is what emerges from the Ni-Fe combination: Ni questions identity and the world, while Fe seeks answers through social connections. I know it's true that in the common view, people expect INFJs to always be philosophical, calm and thoughtful, but in reality, Tamon's dramatic traits are present in most Ni Doms; especially if they are unhealthy , these are just deliberately exaggerated here because it's a comedy.
