What personality type is Baron Vladimir Harkonnen? Baron Vladimir Harkonnen is an ENTJ personality type in MBTI, 8w9 - so/sp - 386 in Enneagram, SCOEI in Big 5, LIE in Socionics.
The Baron is not SLE, he is LIE. The Baron's Se was an aspiring, mobilizing element. It was something he valued but not very good at using. In simple terms, the Baron is someone who enjoys pulling the strings while having others do his dirty work for him. An individual with Se as a base function is someone who likes to be more directly involved in the action. Prominent examples of Se-base in Dune are more obvious in Duncan Idaho (SLE) and Feyd-Rautha (SEE). They are very effective at mobilizing people around them in the moment, far more confrontational and more involved with the immediate need for action. Now, I'm not downplaying the fact that Se can be very strategic in achieving their goals but even when it comes to making plans and strategies, Se is characterized by focus on the concrete environment as opposed to the more intricate, structured and long-term scheming of the Baron, who relies more on Te and Ni. Tyler Durden is an example of what 'strategic Se' looks like, not Baron Harkonnen; his entire strategy in attacking House Atreides relied on predicting developments which indicates he had a very keen sense of the unfolding of time. This is a display of very strong Ni. As for Te, the Baron valued the use of elements associated with extroverted logic; he evaluates factors based on what goals, objectives and results he can obtain; he's mainly seen organizing and streamlining complex operations into effective action through method and procedure; he excelled in these areas. All of this points to Te playing a more active role with the Baron. His entire plot against Atreides relied on mobilizing Se, a good chunk of Ni and a fck ton of Te. Finally for his Enneagram, he's not a Type 8. This 'ENTJ 8w7' circlejerk is pure stereotyping, and a very poor attempt at creating misinformation and misunderstanding. Type 8 is the domain of intense, concrete Lust; again you could look at Feyd-Rautha who is an obvious Sexual 8. Lust doesn't fit the extremely vain, power hungry nature of the Baron. He's a Social 3. He's loves accumulating power and displaying it to others, perpetually seeks to position House Harkonnen within a place of dominance, within Arrakis and within the Imperium; all of this is reflective of the Prestige mindset of the Social 3. LIE Social 3 is the only answer for Baron Vladimir Harkonnen.
