Reuben is that one brother from the Bible which stood up for Joseph when most of the brothers were against him and did not wish to see Joseph gutted out. Reuben was the one to tell the brothers to throw him in the pit instead of killing him because he wanted to save Joseph after the brothers have left. In the testament of Reuben he tells the story of when he slept with his father’s wife AND mother of his brothers, Bilha and how he was punished by his father and felt great regret afterwards. In this situation he was infatuated and in love with Bilha and reacted based on internal feelings and bodily impulses of which he later warns his children of. He tells them to control themselves and his sons to not let their daughters or wives be sexually appealing to men to not commit such adultery.
