Sanguine-Phlegmatic (SanPhleg) MBTI Personality Type
Personality
What personality type is Sanguine-Phlegmatic (SanPhleg)? Sanguine-Phlegmatic (SanPhleg) is an ENFP personality type in MBTI, 7w6 - so/sx - 792 in Enneagram, SCUAI in Big 5, in Socionics.
While I'm obviously biased on this point (given that I'm an ENFP 7w6 SanPhleg), I always find ENFP 7w6 SanPhlegs in fiction far more interesting than Sanguine [Dominant]s. ENFP 7w6's are more stereotypically Sanguine than SanPhleg, but the very fact they are stereotypically Sanguine often leads to depictions of ENFP 7w6 Sanguines feeling shallow. This certainly isn't universal, and there are plenty of Sanguine [Dominant]s that I adore. But one of the most absurdly prevalent stereotypes in the typology community (even among people who are able to push aside other stereotypes) is this idea that ENFP 7w6's are just hyperactive, immature scatterbrains. Even when interacting with people with years of experience, I often see comments and replies where people devalue my opinions on the basis of me being an ENFP 7w6, or trying to suggest that I can't be an ENFP 7w6 if I'm actually capable of having an informed opinion. If I got a coin for every time someone tried telling me I'm a mistyped ENTP just because I'm not actively stupid, I'd be fairly well off. And what I find is that ENFP 7w6 Sanguines often really perpetuate this stereotype, while SanPhlegs offer a far more nuanced version of the type combination. I'll take SanPhlegs like Chitanda Eru over Sanguines like Olaf as great examples of realistic ENFP 7w6s any day. Of course, this is only about depictions in fiction. Obviously IRL people are always realistic examples of their type; they literally define what's realistic about it.
