love the not super smart or calculated INTP representation honestly it's a breath of fresh air. I relate to him in all the worst ways and god his inf Fe is just so real Since no one has attempted to clearly explain his Ti-Ne, I want to at least make an attempt. Although I can't lie, I find it difficult because it's only shown in pretty subtle and unconventional ways, and is also inextricably linked to how his 6w7 traits manifest. This is a show about deeply flawed people, so it makes sense that his characterization would be mainly focused on his pathetic Fe and total absence of Se. Greg is a great reminder that Ti is *internal* logic, meaning that it doesn't necessarily have to be, well, logical. Ti operates as a subjective framework with which the user can make judgements and decisions. It's just that the origin of that framework comes from a different place than Fi. Both subjective frameworks, but with different reasons for existing. Greg's lack of Fi has already been explained so I won't get into that. I think much of his lack of agency and decision-making comes from unhealthy Ti-Ne interacting with 6w7 anxiety. When trying to make decisions, such as who to side with in season 3, he's always contemplating every possibility, going back and forth without being able to commit to any (Ne). What's more, he sees no option that follows a steady line of logic which keeps him safe (Ti interacting with 6). On one side, he's got his grandfather urging him to act on value alone. On another side, he's got Tom, who despite his best efforts, always succumbs to prioritizing Fe at his own expense. And then he's also got Kendall, who, again, is acting on pure values and on his own emotional whims. Essentially, he's surrounded by people who are antithetic to the Ti process, meaning the most logical course of action to him is to just drift and assume the answer will come to him. Now, it's not uncommon for Ne-users in general to be indecisive when commiting to a single possibly among so much potential is just too difficult. With Fi users though, personal moral values are easier to rely on because it's more about what feels right - it's an impressionistic, almost subconscious understanding of what the "right" thing to do is. However, with Ti, it's a lot easier to just get stumped if nothing computes. Ti also values accuracy. Therefore, uncertainty - like that which Greg faces in his unstable, cutthroat business environment - can be the Ti-user's downfall. And, again, this is exacerbated by 6w7 anxieties. In general his approach to life is based on being like "yeah that's how things are done, this is what makes sense" (I imagine this is Ti+Si). Like, making money is the goal, here are the steps to making money. Don't bother thinking about how unfair it is that you're abusing your familial connections or that selling your soul to corporate America is maybe not the best thing morally speaking? He probably is aware of these moral issues, but rationalizes them away instead of seriously taking them into account. Greg is a nice person, but he isn't a stranger to being callous if that's what makes the most sense. The way he takes advantage of Ewan in such a way that you barely even notice he's totally screwing over his own grandfather is Ti as hell to me. Greg himself doesn't even realize it's a bad thing to do because in his mind, it's just the thing that makes the most sense (I'm repeating that phrase a lot but like, that's what a lot of Ti is man idk!!) It's the kind of thing that if you were to write it down as an equation removed from reality it would be perfectly congruent. But add the human/emotional element - which Greg lacks - and you've got a pretty callous move on your hands which often falls apart because of the emotional factors it failed to take into account. That's the kind of thinking unhealthy Ti often leads to. I hope that made at least some modicum of sense and wasn't just some meandering mess. I love this character a lot! INTPs in fiction are all too often reduced to nerds whose Ti is relegated to thinking like a scientist and being smart. I love seeing the type in a much more human environment on a character who does not fit the stereotypical image of an INTP at all.
