ESFP voters, I totally see where you are coming from so no hate to that at all. I think I would say the same upon first glance. There are a few things that make Buck a clear ENFP to me rather than ESFP: 1. His job seems very Se, being a firefighter, his behaviour in earlier seasons. But what we also see is that this comes more from trauma than anything else. Buck’s motivations for joining the 118 aren’t for adrenaline/experience/sensory motivations. They are for NF reasons; helping people, meaning, proving himself. What draws him to his job as a firefighter aren’t the sensory elements, they are deeper. Not that that cannot be the case for a Se dom, but what I see in high Se users (like Angelina Jolie for example) is engaging in behaviours motivated by the thrill and the excitement of the experience. 2. The wild out of context infodumping all the time, lol. This is also an ADHD thing but you see Buck hyperfixating on unrelated knowledge and wanting to share it with everyone even if the situation doesn’t call for it. For me this is typical Ne-Te. 3. Sensors are practical, period. They are in their bodies, aware of what is going on right in front of them. Buck is adorable but he often isn’t present, making careless mistakes with the microphone testing and protocols. He doesn’t give down to earth energy, his mind and heart are always (going) somewhere else 4. Some stereotyping is true in this case imo; Buck strikes me as a dreamer, like the rest of the NF crew. His declaration oh “this is love.” After seeing the gay couple die after hearing their story. His deeper conversations about love and relationships with Eddie. Weird metaphors about sea monkeys and about what real love really is. There is a quirkyness to him that is apparent in Ne doms, and a groundedness that he misses 5. In the newest episode babygirl outs himself by walking into the room with a face full of dust because of kissing Tommy who just came back from a job. He is so in the clouds and oblivious that he doesn’t realise. Even if a Se dom would be head over heals, they would know this and be savvy about it. Buck is not, and he doesn’t care cause he is in his own world. I could name even more but this shows the biggest Ne - Se difference for me. Also just that when in stress he goes into Si grip, ruminating about the past and indulging into sensory experiences. It’s pretty clear to me, but it takes some digging deeper to figure out what makes him tick since his impulsiveness and him being a 7 make it difficult to see a clear distinction between ENFP and ESFP at first
