What personality type is Sir Pentious? Sir Pentious is an INFP personality type in MBTI, 4w3 - so/sx - 468 in Enneagram, in Big 5, IEI in Socionics.
He's pretty much Doofenshmirtz as a snake, an INFP trying way too hard to act like an ENTJ. Guy's a nervous wreck around actual people, his "evil plans" are poorly thought out (most involve just rolling up with a doomsday device that takes way too long to charge), and the only ones who actually respect him are egg minions that he engineered to stroke his ego (i.e. he'd always feel like the smartest person in a room full of dimwitted sycophants). I'd argue that Sir Pentious (at least in the pilot) was having delusions of grandeur as a result of his loneliness. He's not so much trying to "take over Hell", more trying to prove that he and his creations are worthy of respect and getting revenge on everyone else for thinking otherwise. Pentious centered his entire identity around the one thing he's good at (i.e. building weapons) and motivated himself with wounded pride by dwelling on all the times others have defeated and disrespected him, demonstrating a very unhealthy use of Fi and Si. His Te is present of course, and he likes to pretend he's the one in control, but his goals are much too erratic and emotionally driven for his Te to be dominant. A Te dom (especially a power hungry one) would not immediately abandon his plan to dominate Hell just because someone showed him kindness. He also wouldn't feel so guilty or cry calling himself a "dirtbag" for betraying the Hotel, he has no rational reason to care about Charlie or her camp counselor activities. From what we can gather he has a sense of right from wrong, and only acts "evil" because he believes no one could ever forgive him. By forgiving Pentious, Charlie made him question his own worldview, which seems to be based on paranoia and an irrational fear of how others might treat him. He acts like a supervillain to scare others away from trying to "kill" him, suggesting he may have a traumatic past (though it's hard to say without knowing his backstory). In any case, Pentious eventually drops the "evil geniusss" facade as he learns to trust the other residents, and once he's over the hurdle of "making friends" he becomes arguably the most loyal and selfless member of the entire group. In other words, he no longer had a reason to be "evil" around them and simply dropped the act. His attachment to his eggs and the fact that "More Than Anything" drives him to tears are also notable traits to consider. And while he does dress up as "General Pentious" in the final act, this seems to be more a fun cosplay to impress his friends than an actual desire to lead (he allowed Charlie to rally the troops with the speech, and if you listen to the plan he told Niffty it didn't make any sense). It's silly but also kind of sweet, you gotta love the guy for trying his best.
Biography
Sir Pentious is one of the minor recurring characters in Hazbin Hotel. He could be seen as an aspiring inventor who aims to take up the Pentagon City and become an overlord himself. Despite his generic, yet charming villainous behaviour, Sir Pentious is not one to back away from a fight. Sometimes, this turns into ignorance due to his plans always ending up being thwarted by someone else.
