What personality type is Soundwave? Soundwave is an ISTJ personality type in MBTI, 6w5 - sp/sx - 683 in Enneagram, RCOEI in Big 5, LII in Socionics.
Wait a moment... INTJ? Guys, don't judge people by letters. And second: sensors aren't stupid. You can be an intuitive type and be stupid. It really depends of the person here. But INTJs and ISTJs are different, and we can see the case in both Shockwave and Soundwave for why this is so. Firstly, what exactly is Soundwave responsible for? Communications and documenting incidents. His job is literally to keep tabs on people, records, if you will. His detachment from Ne's wild amalgam of possibilities is so evident throughout the series. He keeps things real, practical and focused on his impression of the narrative. This is quite indicative of Si, don't you think? Also the desire to be in constant or stable situations, he wants to make sure that he preserves his sanity by sticking to what he knows is true. Ignoring all stereotypes of ISTJs being accountants or bankers, we can safely say we have an Si-dom. Te: Both Shockwave and Soundwave have auxilliary Te. They are both loyal to efficiency in carrying out tasks, but the former uses it to fuel his Ni, while the latter for Si. He requires empirical proof that would help him in his duties to Megatron. Fi: Again, Shockwave (INTJ) and Soundwave (ISTJ) both have this in the third slot. This is quite obvious- they are both loyal to the cause not because others are, but because they feel so. Shockwave is loyal to his vision, Soundwave is loyal to his belief and impression of Megatron. Not to say one is better than the other; I'm just saying that they have differences. Ne: He is not open to possibilities that are beyond him- he stays in what he believes is true, real and practical. The rest is just folly. His impression and memory of it is what is accurate, final and determined(Si+Fi) and what is left to the imagination is not logical to him. Contrary to this, Shockwave, who leads with Ni and has inferior Se, is a visionary with a weakness of being physically slow and unaware of the environment. He likes to experiment, as long as it is reasonable, useful and efficient. Soundwave wouldn't dabble in such things- he grounds the more idealistic members of the Decepticons: Megatron [ENTJ], Starscream [ENTP] and Shockwave [INTJ]. Of course, Soundwave is just infinitely cool. I love him as a character; this show really portrayed his loyalties and eerie strength well.
