Meliodas MBTI Personality Type

Personality

What personality type is Meliodas? Meliodas is an ENTP personality type in MBTI, 7w8 - sx/so - 728 in Enneagram, SCUEI in Big 5, IEE in Socionics.

Okay, I'm going to be completely honest here. For the LONGEST time, I voted on Meliodas being an ENFP. I feel like that was a bit of kinning bias on my part, as I HEAVILY relate to him, and a bit due to stereotypes. That's why I feel like people are voting on it now. He has massive struggles with his emotions, and the latest seasons feature him trying to accumulate power in order to accomplish a goal. HOWEVER, if we look at actual functions and everything, this screams more ti-fe and 8 wing along with 2 and 8 fixes. Let us not forget, he never initially wanted to go about it this way. Absorbing the commandments to usurp the demon King's throne is a last resort to him, and a gamble that he's taking here. He doesn't know that it will work, but he has a hypothesis, and he's willing to go through it at the expense of himself in order to save her. A high Fi user like Howzer would never give up fighting. He'd find any way to help, but never at the expense of him or his friends. In fact, Meliodas's recent behavior is rather similar to Ban's near the beginning of the series, when he was trying to kill Meliodas to revive Elaine. We also see a large use of Fe, especially in the holy war from 3000 years ago. Yes, he sided with the goddesses initially due to his love for Elizabeth, but that's what opened his eyes to the horror of the demon race. What does every demon who sees Elizabeth call her? A manipulator, deceitful, etc. Both her and Meliodas are considered by each race to be vile, not just because they're of the opposite race. They sided with the goddess race because, despite both races posing a threat, the demon race was the more immediate threat. They like neither one, considering the goddess race to be incredibly manipulative, the very definition of toxic Fe (see Ludociel), while the demon race longs only for war, bloodshed, and power, which points towards an unhealthy enneagram 8. I'm not used to going into deep dives like this, so my apologies if this is a bit hard to follow. Just, with all of the diversity on this page at the moment, and as someone who sees both sides, and in fact once argued for the side that is now dominant, I'd explain at least some of my thoughts on it. Overall, I'd say Meliodas is simply an ENTP with very well developed Fe, and an 8 fix rather than the previously attributed 9. The story has its own underlying arc of him trying to fight his 8. It is his weakest fix, the last in his tritype, but it is still there. Let us not forget his training in the druid caves. What was it to do? Eliminate his emotions and how reactive it is. I think he tries to hide and suppress his 8 so much that he seems more 9-ish as he dreads returning to how he used to be, worrying that his anger and need for power will grow too great. Meliodas CONSTANTLY has his own issues going on inside of his head. After he comes back from the dead and kills Fraudrin, he confides in Elizabeth and for the first time in the series, he cries. He holds in his emotions, putting the emotions and needs of his allies first. Let's return to that earlier example of Ban trying to kill him. I don't care how forgiving and healthy the fi is, a betrayal like that would not be swatted away so easily. An amazing example of this is Arthur. I think we can all agree on him being an ENFP, with amazingly healthy fi. When Meliodas, someone he considered to be an ally, turned traitor, his normally calm, forgiving demeanor went away immediately. He betrayed the people that trusted him, and he deserves punishment for that. Meliodas, however, went first to empathizing. Ban had only slighted him, and nobody else, therefore he forgave him, especially since he goes through the same thing. Another example of how Meliodas would've reacted different if he had fi comes from yet another instance of conflict between him and Ban. When Ban started yelling about Meliodas not understanding how it was to have the woman he loved die twice, instead of reacting in a volatile manner and telling him of course he knows how he feels, how would Ban feel is he had to go through it dozens of times, how he has always supported Ban and how dare he talk to him like that, he stays quiet and lets Ban rant his feelings out. This is, in itself, not entirely indicative of Fe>Fi, but along with all of the other knowledge, along with the fact that Meliodas has gone through it a few dozen times more than Ban, for many, many more years, seems more on the ti-fe axis, just wanting to be there for his friend. This went on way longer than I had planned, but I felt I had to give more examples, as the main issue here seems to be the Fe vs Fi. He seems to be more caring about others, especially his friends, so many point to fi aux, however I'd say this is a developed, healthy Fe, along with a 2 fix and a social 7 core. That's the end of my comment though! Even if this doesn't change any minds, I hope it at least serves as food for thought! Much love guys! Peace!
