Biography
Born in Venice as Cecelia Venier-Baffo, she is noble-born young woman although technically a bastard as both of her parents were married to others when she was born. As a young woman she is kidnapped along with her maid Valeria (later Nazenin) and brought to Topkapı Palace as a concubine. Nurbanu is legal wife to Şehzade Selim, the third child of Sultan Suleiman and Hürrem Sultan. Şehzade Selim becomes the 11th Sultan of the Ottoman Empire. Nurbanu is also the Valide Sultan of the 12th Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, Murad III.
