Criou um sistema que conciliou presciência, soberania e vários atributos de Deus, além de conciliar Israel e a Igreja, o Velho Testamento e o Novo Testamento, utilizando estudos de filosofia, da Patrística e conhecimentos de hebraico e grego. Um absoluto gênio e um dos mais importantes teólogos da Reforma. Só que eu sou da Assembleia de Deus, então, embora eu admire a inteligência, eu discordo dele quanto à famigerada tese da Predestinação e de que absolutamente tudo o que eu faço foi programado (embora o próprio Calvino afirme que Deus não predetermina pecados e nenhum calvinista sério pense isso). Biography
John Calvin (born Jehan Cauvin; 10 July 1509 – 27 May 1564) is a French theologian, pastor and reformer in Geneva during the Protestant Reformation. He was a principal figure in the development of the system of Christian theology later called Calvinism, aspects of which include the doctrines of predestination and of the absolute sovereignty of God in salvation of the human soul from death and eternal damnation, in which doctrines Calvin was influenced by and elaborated upon the Augustinian and other Christian traditions. Various Congregational, Reformed and Presbyterian churches, which look to Calvin as the chief expositor of their beliefs, have spread throughout the world. Calvin is recognized as a Renewer of the Church in Lutheran churches, and as a saint in the Church of England, commemorated on 26 May, and on 28 May by the Episcopal Church (USA).
