What personality type is Shinichi Izumi? Shinichi Izumi is an INFP personality type in MBTI, 9w8 - so/sp - 962 in Enneagram, RCUAI in Big 5, EII in Socionics.
I want to finally put to rest the arguments for what enneagram wing he has, and so I have made this post. To counter the people who are saying he has an 8 wing, I believe it's more of his Fi that's wanting him to be his authentic self than it being a wing 8 thing and him wanting control over his life. The reason his confrontation with Murano in episode 9 makes him look like a wing 8 is because of how Fi works. Fi users want to be as authentic as possible. Murano questions his authenticity and so he snaps back at her. Here are a few other differences between wing 1s and wing 8s paired with 9: - 9w8s are not as upset by their anger as 9w1s would be, they don’t feel guilty about it. ---Shinichi clearly feels guilty about his outburts. In the scene immediately following his confrontation with Murano in episode 9, Migi is talking to Shinichi and Shinichi says "Are you trying to make me feel better?" From this statement we can infer that Shinichi is feeling some kind of negative emotion, in this case, most likely guilt. - One distinguishing feature of the disintegrated 9w8 is their tendency to dissociate from others and their own feelings, all while exacting revenge on people who have wronged them. ---While Shinichi does dissociate from his feelings and others, his reasoning for doing so isn't to exact revenge on those who have wronged him. He almost seems sympathetic to parasites at times(for example in episode 23 when he makes the decision to kill Gotou and apologizes to him). The only time he expresses excessive anger towards a parasite is when they question his authenticity as a human. -A 9w1s anger, feelings, and opinions are repressed in order to sustain this peace, and they do their very best to ignore anything that will disrupt inner and outer harmony. ---This is best exemplified in his confrontation with Murano in episode 13. Throughout the entire conversation he acts calm, hiding his feelings from Murano. Even when Murano expresses her want to help Shinichi, Shinichi states that "Nothing's wrong." He believes this decision will sustain more peace than if he told Murano, as he fears that Migi would kill her if Shinichi told him. -A 9w1 won’t get angry, but they will have attitudes of censure and bitterness. ---A lot of his "anger" that is shown throughout the series would be better defined as censure and bitterness. Bitterness - Anger and disappointment at being treated unfairly; resentment. Censure - Express severe disapproval of (someone or something) With all this in mind now, we can look at the ending scene of episode 12 where Mitsuo confronts him after Kana's death. His Fi authenticity is questioned again. "How can you be so calm! Are you incapable of shedding even a single tear?!" It's only when Shinichi's authenticity is questioned that he gets angry. "You're not human!" *Proceeds to get punched* Again, Shinichi stops himself because of his fear that he'll have more guilt. "If we take this any further, we'll just open a hole in this guy's heart, too." I hope this comment has convinced you that his wing is indeed 1 and not 8. Shinichi Izumi is the main protagonist of the anime/manga series Parasyte. He is a 17-year-old high-school student who was infected by a mysterious alien known only as a Parasite in his right hand.
