she’s def a sp3, here’s why: sp3’s and sp8’s can look a lot like each other, this is because the sp8 has a strong need to obtain what they need for survival while threes learned how to take care of themselves without the help from other & work hard to achieve a sense of security. both, sp8 & sp3 have a strong desire for material needs: eights going after what they want, & threes to be efficient doers & to be independent -> they want to get things done and solve problems and want to look like they have it all together. sp8's know how to get things done just like the sp3 who learned to be active and an efficient doer. why sp3 fits mary much more than sp8 does: after I started reading kakegurui twin I immediately noticed that everything she does/ did is for the sake of her achieving security. Naranjo calls the sp3 subtype "Security" because they work hard to achieve a sense of security. Notice how this applies to mary? she got into the school and she didn't know anything about the rules of gaming, she didn't have control of her "school life" -> she has a need for control (because of her underlying anxiety) to achieve her sense of security and to feel independent/autonomous, in control and self-sufficient. sp3's will panic when they need help or lose autonomy, which is heavily represented in the manga and the anime. as an example, in the beginning of the anime when Mary lost to Yumeko she lost her "security she was one of the best gamblers and had a place where she was in control & independent, after loosing she panicked, trying to get her image & sense of security back with playing against yuriko. she worked very hard for her own sense of security and blamed herself / felt responsible (just like sp3's feel) for making it happen that she lost against yumeko. another example in the beginning of the manga would be her trying to get the casino. she noticed that she didn't have anything that really gave her the feeling of being "save" which is why she worked really hard to make "the casino happen". she wanted the casino to be a success for her to have a sense of security. well what r sp3s like? •work hard to achieve a sense of security basically crave security •know how to to do things efficiently, basically are efficient doers •have a need to feel autonomous and self-sufficient •oriented to take care of themselves without help panic when they do need help or loose autonomy •focus on what is practical and useful •don't show weakness •want to inspire admiration in others without being obvious •have an underlying sense of anxiety •work hard & don't show their stress •solve problems & get things done in a high quality way •want to be in control
Biography
Mary Saotome (早乙女 芽亜里, Saotome Meari) is a deuteragonist of Kakegurui and also the main protagonist of the spin-off series Kakegurui Twin. She is a student at Hyakkaou Private Academy, she is also and a classmate of Yumeko Jabami and Ryota Suzui, who is the first character in the entire series that challenges Yumeko and loses against her.
