“i’m going to a book signing.” “whats the book.” “…uh.” “this story is just too… predictable” “predictable? what happens in the end?” “in the end, we all die. unless you change.” “ash… i know what it’s like to feel… [iconic hand motions] different.” i mean, just looking at mr. fox’s mistakes with the trap in the prologue and the buying of the house despite the arguments that it was dangerous, he needs to see consequences up front to understand the gravity of them. or better: he doesn’t listen to anyone. she’s also described as being, in the past, foot loose and fancy free or however the hell that saying goes. i think her adapting to her family’s needs by losing that freedom (furthered by her telling mr. fox he’s not just a wild animal, but a husband and father), acting as a grounding force for mr. fox’s reckless curiosity, and being completely immune to his charms that seem to influence literally everyone else in the movie (conversation with the badger in the new colony right after yelling his lungs out at him, where he sympathizes with his condition), gives fe to me. the grounding, the choice questions and prodding that will poke holes in his arguments and lies with one move by utilizing the other people involved (kylie), ni-fe combo.
