Personality

What personality type is Yang Xiao-Long? Yang Xiao-Long is an ESTP personality type in MBTI, 7w8 - so/sx - 782 in Enneagram, SLUEN in Big 5, SEE in Socionics.

i still don’t think i’m ever going to wrap my mind around ESFP or fi usage for her character. compare her to korra, another ESTP in media. their character arcs are like 80% the exact same, especially if you consider season 4 korra vs volume 4/5 yang and their grapples with ptsd. although that’s not enough to decide on her type, i think a lot of people like to say yang is fi because “she feels emotions when blake leaves her.” isn’t it funny that people love to type blake as fi dominant, too? i think you guys just like to slap that label on all of the characters in team rwby because they all end of dealing with their emotions in some way within their character arcs. in my opinion, that’s just... normal? every well-developed character in every media will eventually experience that. not to mention that fi is more than just feeling— it’s the set of internal values about the world that yang does not seem to have. i see why you might misinterpret her to have them when she has problems with authority figures (like her mother), but it also feels like you’re minimizing her character and dumbing her down when you say that. when yang stands in front of the bandits and calls out her mother, her points are based on her own logic, not just “boo hoo you abandoned me”. first of all, she’s not there to call out her mom, she’s there to seek out ruby and provide support for her team (which is a good indication towards fe). she used ti to holistically deduce that her mother’s semblance could bring her to her sister. the fate of remnant held greater importance to her than wallowing forever in her recovery. now, does that remind you of anyone? here’s where i circle back to korra. in s4, korra goes through a period of a ni grip. she is unable to reach a logical solution (ti) to her physical pain, so she retreats inside herself; yang does the same in volume 4. yes, i know we’ve established that she’s ni inferior with the agreed se dom votes, but the problem was in her lack of access to ti, not to fi, during this period. my point is that yang enters her recovery when she regains access to healthier ti and fe, and recognizes that her own pain is smaller than the ramifications of salem’s impending war. i hope this analysis strikes a chord in literally anyone because i’m tired of these votes
