What personality type is Mary Bennet? Mary Bennet is an INFP personality type in MBTI, 4w5 - sp/so - 469 in Enneagram, RLOAI in Big 5, IEI in Socionics.
I think she definitely has an ISTJ vibe (maybe her actress is an ISTJ): She is quite, reliable, more responsible than Lydia and Kitty and seems mature and grounded. However, her desire to be totally authentically herself (not dressing up like Lydia, Kitty and her mother do and therefore looking totally underdressed when arriving at Lady Catherine's estate) shows high Fi. As someone leading with Si and Te you'd think she would adapt to society's standards of her- also when singing and playing the piano not very well at the ball and being laughed at. An ISTJ would have noticed that people are looking at her and laughing and would have stopped in order to not stand out so negatively. She is simply a more introverted INFP than Jane is and processes her emotions even more internally than Fi users usually do, so maybe that's why you wouldn't think of her as a feeling type. I can imagine that this might also have to do with how they were brought up, beautiful Jane- the oldest and favorite of her mother was probably given more attention so she developed a more healthy and happy personality that can fit in well with society in spite of her Fi-Ne dreaminess. Mary, however, was a middle child out of 5, not overly pretty, and unlike Kitty and Lydia she had little in common with her mother, so she might have developed a more reclusive and individualistic personality where she mostly sticks to herself and enjoys her own company without interacting much with others.
