Jay Pritchett MBTI Personality Type

Personality

What personality type is Jay Pritchett? Jay Pritchett is an ISTP personality type in MBTI, 8w9 - sp/sx - 836 in Enneagram, RCOEN in Big 5, SLI in Socionics.

Jay Pritchett is extremely Ti-Se, not Si-Te. Before you downvote, read this whole frickin argument first. Let’s start with the ISTP’s main cognitive functions definitions, shall we? Ti = Introverted Thinking. Someone with a good Ti, tends to perceive information according to their own logic, i.e what makes sense to them the most. Ti is some sort of complicated mental thinking process that is not based on the external world, it’s based on the individual’s OWN internal logic. Se = Extraverted Sensing. When you think of Se, I bet most of you picture the stereotypical “impulsive” and “wild” function, but when in reality, the “impulsive” and “wild” part of Se is only a fraction of it. People with good Se are often described as blunt, straightforward, and impatient, because Se is a function that wants to get straight to the point and does not want to elaborate a lot of unnecessary stuff. They understand information as it is. His Ti might be mistaken for his Si. The only argument that I saw revolving Si is that Jay is a stuck-up, traditionalist old man. Look, he’s literally an old person so of course he’s gonna compare stuff from his past and to his present. If he’s a Si dom, then that means when we’re all old we’re going to be Si users. Period. Anywho, he uses Ti (his own logic) to process information, and when that information does not make sense personally to him, he joked about it sarcastically. This makes him look blunt. Let’s move on to Se. In that one episode where Gloria, (a Si user), wants to tell a story, Jay, (a Se user) despises the way Gloria tells the story. Gloria uses too many details and does not get straight to the point which leads to Jay being extremely annoyed and tells the story himself. This is an example of Se usage. Literally getting to the point and processing information as it is. Gloria’s story is full of unnecessary details due to her Si which provokes Jay’s Se. For his Ni, his closet company is sort of self-explanatory. He had an ultimate goal of having the best closet company to beat his rival, Earl Chambers. If you look closely, he has some bits of Fe, but obviously his Fe is not that strong considering it’s an inferior function of ISTP. When he was with his old buddies and Cameron coincidentally met Jay’s and his friends, he’s secretly trying to maintain some social harmony (Fe) so the situation is not awkward. Jay didn’t tell his friends that Cameron is Mitchell’s partner because then it’ll create some awkward tensions with his friends. Furthermore, Fe>Fi for Jay because if Jay indeed uses Fi, he should have some strict moral compass (for an ISTJ) and in reality, he doesn’t really have a strict moral compass and values social harmony (bit by bit) more. “But he’s competitive? Aren’t Te users competitive??” Competitiveness isn't exactly limited to one cognitive function LMAO. + his competitiveness is due to his 3 fix. That is all I have for MBTI analysis for Jay Pritchett. Lmk if you have more evidences/points for his Ti-Se-Ni-Fe functions or if you want to rebuttal/discuss in the comments.
