You can tell behind the eyes of this soul-less painting that they new the inevitable was going to happen; that something bad was going to happen. The painting knew the inevitable of the bucket of black paint pouring onto it was going to happen since it wasn't in alignment with what was going on in that very moment (odd one out since the clock was talking about tome, and this painting was created in the moment). They knew that it was morally wrong to have been created in that moment, hence they proceeded with the bucket of paint falling onto it. /j
