What personality type is Ted Mosby? Ted Mosby is an INFJ personality type in MBTI, 4w5 - sx/so - 694 in Enneagram, RLOAI in Big 5, IEI in Socionics.
I honestly think that Ted Mosby is one of the best examples of a real life INFJ. Not every INFJ can be this hyper-intelligent, ultra-empathetic, fighter for justice with an uncanny ability to predict everything that will happen in the future through raw wisdom that the type often is stereotyped as. Some things cannot be explained - some things just make sense. One of those things is Ted Mosby being written as an INFJ. Either you get it, or not. But if I were to explain it, then think about how Ted pursues his goals in the series. He's constantly obsessed about some slightly vague, farsighted, abstract thought that he wants to accomplish. Ted went into architecture with one goal that kept on driving him forward, even when the odds were against him. And the same thing can be said about his relationships. When you look at Marshall pursuing his dream of being an environmental lawyer, he always uses Fi, not Ni. Marshall wants this because his morals and feelings say that it's the right thing, but often struggles to put what he wants in practice. Ted isn't like that. Even disregarding this example of Ted's Ni, his inferior Se is very obvious. As other people have mentioned, Ted never uses whatever Se he has healthily. During parties, mostly during harder times in his life, Ted often drinks way too much and ends up doing things that he regrets after. Obviously, most of us have done this without being INxJs, but in Ted's case it is often reminiscent of inferior Se problems. He doesn't have inferior Ne (literally no examples of that, and he isn't ISFJ just because he enjoys tradition) and inferior Te just doesn't make sense. As someone who identifies with the INFJ type, I highly relate to Ted, and I'm sure most do. Also, Ted was always my favourite character throughout the series, and I will never understand why he gets so much hate!
