I think his dynamic with Katniss is so interesting because they share so many similarities in the way they use their Ti respectively but the constant clash between his Ne and her Se really helps to solidify his mentor role where his Ne is literally able to see the big picture Katniss isn't and then guide her through the situations and conflicts she faces. All in all it's also just such a unique and interesting mentor/student relationship that I was such a big fan of in the books that they were really able to bring to life in the movies.
Biography
Haymitch Abernathy was the only living Hunger Games victor from District 12, having won the second Quarter Quell, before Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark won the 74th Hunger Games under his mentorship.
