Therefore Beth is used to give births to mentally challenged people which Rick can use as his personal scramblers but because of Lima Syndrome he actually became irrationaly attached to them. Rick gaslights Beth with appeal to morality to keep with Jerry. That's why Beth started drinking and the result is Morty which most likely has fetal alcohol syndrome which greatly reduces cognitive abilities so it better hides Rick's presence.
