What personality type is Anna Bates? Anna Bates is an ESFJ personality type in MBTI, 9w1 - so/sx - 926 in Enneagram, in Big 5, ESE in Socionics.
The way she seems vaguely 2ish (in her assertiveness towards other people that nines, even Fe doms, tend to struggle with, and her line to 8 protectiveness) in the first season and then is clearly a 9 for the rest of the series... we love bad writing :( I could almost see her as an sx 1 (her clarity about others' actions and drive to make them the best version of themselves, her self-criticism, though those are the only 1 traits I really see that aren't also a result of being in service for years) if I wasn't sure she was a positive-outlook core and didn't have a 1 wing influencing her already? Also, why SLUAN rather than SxOAN? She prefers structure and reliability and buries herself in her work when she's upset, she seems Organized, and possibly Calm over Limbic? She's driven by emotion, but for the most part she stays pretty chill under pressure and tries to keep her emotions in check because of her job... she's not inherently anxious or irritable, she's traumatized. (Considering OCEAN is a graph rather than a dichotomy, I would assume Big 5 *can* change over time, but I think Julian Fellowes deciding "ah yes, this one gets The Pain" doesn't change what she's naturally inclined to do/PTSD doesn't necessarily equal limbic)
