the seemingly never-ending argument between ENTP and INTP for philomena cunk is understandable due to her Fe and Si being horrible. but i think philomena’s is an ENTP because her Si is worse than her Fe. philomena’s Fe is awful because she only uses it make other people uncomfortable. but she does show a strong interest in other people and their experiences. when philomena learns that olympics athletes used to compete naked. philomena is concerned that people would have to look right up their posterior during wrestling matches. “Couldn’t they censor it for people watching it in the auditorium? modesty patches or something?” (Fe: philomena is concerned that audiences were subjected to looking at the private areas of athletes during the games. she wants the athletes to be covered for the sake of the audience) “My confidence is quite brittle at times, and I know I come across as quite confident, but sometimes when I’m talking to experts, I worry that, you know, I might come across as a bit stupid.” (Fe: ENTP’s with their Ne-Ti can come off confident. but their tertiary Fe can then insecure or concern about how other people feel about them. philomena wants to be liked by the experts and not be seen as stupid.) when she asks the expert of the renaissance or beyoncé was more culturally significant and he replied the renaissance. she states: “So what, the work of a few straight white men just blows Beyoncé out of the water? Is that what you are saying? On camera?” (Fe: she is shocked that he would say something so controversial because in her mind, this will cause backlash from other people) but her inferior Si is even worse. at least her tertiary Fe shows care and concern for other people sometimes. but philomena shows distaste for history, analysis, and details. she is extremely uninterested in history despite being a host of a historical documentary series. “The Greeks had an empire and the Chinese had an empire. But when most of us think of the word empire, we think of the big ones. Star Wars, or Rome, and this is history so it’s Rome, I’m afraid.” (Si: her Ne dom would rather explore galaxies far away rather than discover the ancient history of rome she finds it boring and uninteresting to learn about rome or history in general) “But why do we still talk about Shakespeare? We don’t talk about Les Dennis anymore even though he’s still alive and hasn’t done anything wrong.” (Si: philomena could care less about shakespeare because he is dead. since he was from the past, she could care less about him or his literature) philomena is notoriously bad at details. some of her greatest comedic bits is her messing up details of names. “king arthur came a lot. didn’t he?” “i don’t understand why the montegones and the caplets just won’t let ‘em muck about together?” “what was ‘renaissauce’? was that a sort of 16th century ketchup?” i think if Si was her tertiary function she would be better at details and show more interest in history. but because she is an ENTP, she shows more concern about people (tertiary Fe) than interest in history and details (inferior Si).
