His high ideals through dom Fi the main reason he enlisted, naively ignoring the advice of his father (who has treated WW1 Veterans and their PTSD) and fears of his mother (losing both sons) for not going. All in all self absorbed Fi over Fe and demon Ti (not reasoning the reality of war) leads him into the most brutal and amoral experiences enacted by society and himself. In contrast to ENTP Robert Leckie with Blindspot Fi (doesnst give a damm about moral abyss of the war and seems pretty fine afterwards), INFP Eugene remains a broken man by his Fi utterly shuttered and being haunted through thirdsport Si war memories unlike inferior Si in Leckie! Blindspot Se: Opposite to ESTP John Basilone, Eugene is not very physical and not in the moment. At Peleliu landing busy to process his own fears and emotions, in very contrast to Basilone rushing forward on Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima. Later in life he becomes an author to process his experiences.
