i really wanna believe the consensus is only nine core because everyone was really dumb about typology a few years ago and the four votes havent caught up but theyre soooo far back its getting hard to believe. ANYWAY!! i think that could mostly be resolved by people actually picking up enneagram books that arent rheti, and i might make an actual argument for it later (along with py, socio, etc etc) but i'm mainly making this to argue SX4 over SP4. i just finished rewatching the whole thing, and i was going back and forth between the two the whole time since she's honestly pretty healthy and it’s hard to make out when the whole system is based off you at your worst. obviously, she has moments where that breaks or how she's generally a prick in earlier seasons but it’s nowhere near the stereotypes usually given to fours. that’s where i think the SP4 take comes from is that people see a character who’s an obvious four core but doesn’t externally manifest it to the max so she MUST be swallowing her pain. she doesn’t dwell on pain because she’s mostly overcome four’s melancholy fixation and a large part of her development shows that in action (“i don’t even remember what it’s like to be hurt and sad”), especially in stakes. on top of that, even if she were swallowing her pain what indicator is there that it’s because she’s hoping someone will notice and value her for it?? if anything, the explanation we get on that is that her and her mom didn’t talk about bad things so now it’s hard for her to be honest with it (manifesting in her past as shame turned to hate - mostly seen anytime pb rejects her, and in the present as her shutting down convos abt it). what ultimately made me settle on SX4 though was distant lands obsidian. actually, almost every flashback we got of her in the series made me more sure and it’s not cause she was more aggressive or mean in them (although im sure ppl would type her SX4 right away if she hadn’t healed and continued being like that since there’s barely any SX4 rep that isn’t wildly unhealthy). its hard for people to type characters that aren’t constantly picking fights or yelling as SX4 because honestly, that’s all the SX4 section of the E4 book gives. its hard to imagine a positive character coexisting with that description and even harder to identify when it isn’t all up in your face. which is why those flashbacks are so important - it makes it way easier to identify how she’s dealing with her shame when she readily presents it. and GOD does it scream SX4. she dealt with the shame of abandonment after abandonment (dad, mom, simon) by becoming shameless and desperately trying to take control of it (Why is your mom scared of you? Where is she?… She saw what I did to the mean dog. Then she found a scooter, and… and that was her ticket outta town. You scare everybody away, Marceline. Just like your dad. … Hey, Marcy did that on purpose! Like a funny joke ... Yeah, that’s right. When people get scared and run away, it’s because I want them to!) i could probably list a billion more quotes but i reaaallly don’t wanna dig through 200 episodes worth of transcript and that’s the one that REALLY stood out to me for what her deepest intentions are. overall though, in her unhealthier moments, we constantly see her combat rejection with hate and spite, demand attention (esp with bubblegum), getting mean when it’s not given, and devalue/ blame others so she doesn’t have to deal with thinking that her shortcomings come from herself. the only time this doesn’t happen is when she’s almost completely given up on a relationship (like with her dad and ice king) and when she’s healthy enough to not feel like she has to compensate. also she’s vioooolently EFVL, i can’t imagine her being anything other than weak aggressive will and seeing as that doesn’t work with SP4 and is HEAVILY SX4 only adds to my point. ik that’s like barely an argument for her py but its just an add on to everything i’ve said for enneatype already.

The queen of the vampires (by default as she killed all the other vampires, including the king). Known to be extremely unempathetic but never cruel, simply doing whatever she pleases even at the expense of others. Was alive at the time of the apocalyptic 'mushroom war'. Usually decked out in punk-rock apparel. She generally tries to be cool and rather unfeeling, she harbors a very broken spirit due to loneliness in living forever, among other things. Whenever her more sensitive or emotional side is shown, she gets angry. She and fellow immortal Ice King also share a long and painful history together, and she spends much of her time finding and moving into new houses to avoid him.
