Both Ga-eul and Yu-hyun's conflicts mainly stem from their abusive upbringings. In Yu-hyun's case, his adoptive parents were neglectful. This likely caused Yu-hyun's two conflicting desires. On one side, he wants to be "perfect" in every possible way, so he can be worthy of others' approval. Hence his social mask. On the flip side, he seeks someone who would accept him for "who he is." ...and somehow he thought Ga-eul can be the one lol The reason why he can be such a difficult character to understand, is partly because he constantly lies to even himself.
