Joseph's intentions were completely positive, in fact he's a great father considering his time no man would've cared for his family's well being as he did Lobotomy is bad yeah sure, however at that time it was considered to be a medicine, so he got it for his wife to create a safer environment for his only daughter. after the lobotomy he ACTUALLY took care of his daughter and her sickness, he could've hired a maid to do all the work but he was THERE FOR his daughter, whenever she needed. he brought the best man to his daughter to be safe around, because he thought a stable husband was the right thing for women. even after his daughter got pregnant from an a-hole and ended up marrying him, he STILL gave Beatrice's husband an opportunity to work for him to, again, provide a better environment for his daughter that man IS NOT bad, the environment IS bad he was a true ESTJ, who was practicing the right he was taught to be

Joseph Sugarman (voiced by Matthew Broderick) is Beatrice's father, BoJack's maternal grandfather, and the owner of the Sugarman Sugar corporation. Despite his cheery demeanor, Joseph had a weak conscience, almost to the point of sociopathy.
