it’s hard to judge his morality because most of his actions were what he Thought was the best for his family because that is what he knew. obviously people tend to judge it by a modern lense and make him out to be a complete monster. also just because it was the norm to burn someone’s belongings because of a fatal sickness or giving your loved one a lobotomy because she desperately needed help, obviously doesn’t make it right. I think joe did genuinely care for beatrice, it’s just history merely dictates a lot of his actions towards her and plus she was a CHILD when most of the traumatic stuff happened to her

Joseph Sugarman (voiced by Matthew Broderick) is Beatrice's father, BoJack's maternal grandfather, and the owner of the Sugarman Sugar corporation. Despite his cheery demeanor, Joseph had a weak conscience, almost to the point of sociopathy.
