[Why Hiiro is an ESFJ] [Fe > Fi] Hiiro has an incredibly social structure based mindset. His worldview is fairly biased by this, and it's how he judges situations. > "From my point of view, I have a lower status. i have a lower status than my elder brother; my status is also lower than adults because I'm a teenager; my status is also lower than all of you because I'm still unfamiliar to the city" > "So it's like a monarch?" … "My hometown was the same – compared with this chaotic 'kingdom of idols' called ES, I think that's easier to understand." > "I'm simply behaving properly according to my understanding of my own and others' positions." > "Because society is a structure and a concept established for the peace of those who belong to it." He also has a focus on doing things purely for the common good, which of course fi users can do as well, but it applies to fe in this case. Even the judgements people cite as fi such as his determination to destroy idols come from the idea that it will be better for the community as a whole (+ he didn't know what they were when he announced this, meaning it's not some strong personal conviction he holds, just a judgement of what would fix the situation). He's also very focused on engaging group sentiments and harmony, like with ALKALOID. > "If you're going to abandon all your responsibilities and all your people, I will, by all means, fix that crookedness in you!" > "Apparently, I ended up hurting you. Sorry, Aira. Not only am I an idiot, but I'm also crude and ignorant—I'm a terrible person." > "Brother, you should stop catching wild animals and cutting them up. People are scared, and they think you're under some kind of spell." Hiiro has a significant focus on adapting his self to the ideals of the city, he takes time to integrate with the values and customs of the people around him. A fi user would not give up on their personal judgements so easily, even if they would conform behaviourally. Yet Hiiro actively alters his values, not just his actions. > "Let me know if I do anything weird again. Because following the rules is the right thing to do as a human being in society." > "As long as everyone does the right thing, society will function properly" > "That's what i learned and approve of" > Rinne: "How long are you going to hold onto those old fashioned values?" ... Hiiro: "But I was taught these values are right." > "Strange talk and actions induce concern, but we're supposed to blend in!" > "It's proper etiquette to accept what others offer you, or is it different in the city?" > "Customs differ from place to place, and so do the people." [Aux Sensing] We all seem to agree that he's a sensor. I personally use a more Jungian typology method, so you could consider him to be fe assisted by sensing, or Fe-S. I think both se and si work equally well for him. He easily works in the moment and adapts to what's around him like a high se user should, but he also has a very unique personal worldview about how people interact and what the world means to him. I don't think I need to add quotes for this point, but if you're uncertain you can read my other argument on why Hiiro is 2F. If it still isn't clear why Hiiro is fe > sensing, this quote from Tatsumi may help: > "His words are more logical and rational than I thought. What a relief – it would have been trickier if he acted according to some stubborn ideas or personal emotions." (This clarifies that he's being led by a judging function, not just being led by the feelings he has about a situation. Feeling definitely shouldn't be the auxiliary position) As a final point, here is a quote from Jung about fe in stress. "The subject becomes so swallowed up in individual feeling processes that to the observer it seems as though there were no longer a subject of feeling but merely a feeling process. In such a condition feeling has entirely forfeited its original human warmth, it gives an impression of pose, inconstancy, unreliability, and in the worst cases appears definitely hysterical." This applies very well to the stereotypical "se-dom" like tendencies he develops at some points in the story, when his dominant feeling becomes overwhelmed. Because I use a Jungian method, the dominant and auxiliary functions are what I'm going to focus on, so sorry there's no "tert ni" explanation here.
