𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐂𝐘 𝐉𝐀𝐂𝐊𝐒𝐎𝐍 𝐒𝐎𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋 𝐄𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓 𝐀𝐑𝐆𝐔𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 [1/3] first off, nothing about loyalty is correlated directly with enneagram 2. sure, offering kindness as a means of obtaining the protection and gratitude of others is E2, but percy doesn’t even do this. his loyalty is given to those he considers friends, those he considers worthy of his protection and friendship. he gains nothing inherently from being loyal or kind to people— it’s simply his nature and his instinct to do so. i'll elaborate on this later on, but keep this in mind. secondly, percy doesn’t internally care about his image nor does he care about seeking love, which are the two core focuses of the enneagram two. he doesn't want the love of everyone else, not when his mother has given him unconditional love all his life. his internal monologue is often unaware of his image, with a single-minded focus usually on survival and protecting himself and others close to him. long story short, percy’s primary focus is to survive. the enneagram eight’s greatest fear is being controlled or harmed by a force not themselves. this is particularly present in percy’s frustration with the gods for the way he and his fellow demigods are treated by them. the social eight, being the countertype of the enneagram eight, is known for oftenly appearing like an enneagram two as their image is sweetened outside of the sharp cynism and brute power that the ennegram eight is often stereotyped as. however, their autonomy sets them aside from E2, as does their lack of care towards their image, which is a far more instinctual thing that has no relation to their wants or needs. possibly why percy is mistaken for an E2 is due to his 9 wing, which results in a lack of forward aggression and a slightly more laid-back personality. not to mention that the need for vengeance does exist in percy, given how angry he was when he’d realized that ares had taken advantage of himself, annabeth, and grover and essentially put the blame onto innocent people.
