Personality

What personality type is Jake English? Jake English is an ISFP personality type in MBTI, 9w8 - sp/so - 964 in Enneagram, RLUAI in Big 5, SEI in Socionics.

i'm not going to even start w his cognitive functions cos it gives me a headache, this guy is insane. i do, however, want to make a point for the third ennea type in his tritype. what are your guys' thoughts on 4w3 rather than 2? i think that jakes ennea 9 and 6 put a lot of pressure on him to keep from expressing himself in the ways that he might want to deep down. lets face it, he sidesteps conflict with others and/or himself by either warping his persona to fit what would result in the least amount of turmoil OR he hides from his friends when he feels that there is no way for him to comfortably navigate it with his limited facade. there's only so much that his mask of dumb, bold, and impulsive protagonist with three braincells can do. but i think we can all agree that there's a LOT of conflict in keeping that there. he doesn't want to be the person he presents himself to be. not really. the deep-rooted desire of an enneagram type 4 is to have a distinct, unique, and authentic identity. they often feel misunderstood and unrelatable, like no one really gets them. type 4’s deep-rooted fear is having no personal significance or real identity. They pine for a purpose, a meaning, a life lived to the fullest. onto the wing, wing 3’s fear rejection from others and try to alleviate this by “improving” upon their personal style and physical appearance as well as their achievements. they want to be seen as a person worth knowing for their success in life. to them, their achievements can be the definition of their value. and that value is what makes them worth it. worth knowing, worth being around, worth loving. a lot of the time, jake has trouble recognizing what he wants because he often considers what everyone else expects of him. throughout the comic, he beats himself up for not being what his friends want him to be. he tries though. and he tries not only for his friends but for himself. it gets to the point where he can convince himself of this identity he thinks people want from him by sheer, stubborn will. to quote him a few times for some textual evidence, "GT : im always doing adventures, remember?" "GT : i LOVE adventure and you KNOW it!" "GT : i think i can keep my feelings buttoned up. that is what strong and adventurous gentlemen do i think. they keep a stiff upper lip even on the inside" and to quote jane and roxy, "GG: he does often profess his love for adventure, i suppose. TG : yuuup............. " he's so concerned with being worth anything at all he pushes the idea of what person he believes is worthy love onto all of his friends, even if he doesn't really enjoy it or believe in it himself. i think all of this can mimic enneagram 2, but if you're familiar with ennea theory you'll know that 4 disintegrates to 2 in stress. the fear that he is not unique enough, not interesting enough, simply not Enough to be worth anything. that's where his pressure to cater to the needs of others comes in. and it kind of works. he can ignore his 4 in favor of 2 in a way that supports his 6 and 9. if everyone's happy, he's happy. that is, til the trickster incident. i love this part of the comic because it says so much about who he really is. "GT: im not brave and i dont think i love adventure either. TG: wow... jake... GT: you know how you think you know these things about yourself? GT: like all these personal attributes about you as if they're written down somewhere like a sort of mini biography so they have to be true., GT: so you just believe them and hope that believing is what makes them true. GT: but then you spend so much time believing those things and taking their truth for granted that you somehow forget to MAKE them true with your words and deeds. GT: how can i truly love adventure when i never even knew what it was?" and later "GT: adventure is... GT: its something else. GT: its doing the things im genuinely afraid to do. GT: but cant. GT: because im a coward." jake can’t hide from himself forever. and honestly, he doesn't want to. jake resents having to pretend to be someone he’s not. but he doesn’t know how else to express himself. as a result, he falls into a continuous loop of wanting terribly to be what others want from him and wanting to be true to himself. and even after he realizes how undesirable this role is, jake feels as though there's nowhere left to retreat to but the polished persona he’s crafted. because at least that’s more bearable than facing rejection as his most authentic self. anyway. those are my two cents! im inclined to believe that he is a 9w8 6w7 4w3. id love to hear ur guys' thoughts
