*Major spoilers for RDR1 and 2* What's unsettling about Jack is unlike his father or Arthur he naturally doesn't fill the shoes of an outlaw like they do but views it more as a revenge fuelled fantasy he can act out on the world. Firstly I'll start with the overall argument for his type in general and then get into functions. From RDR2, Jack was always the innocent bookworm type who loved learning about the world through his books. Although he was smart he never really received any formal education in his interests beside being taught by Abigail and Hosea. As Jack was for the most part pretty detached from his outlaw peers way of life yet holding their values he grew up without the knowledge of what a normal life would be outside of crime and constant pressure from the law on his family. Despite the fact he learnt a few of his father's skills before his passing his knowledge of what it truly meant to be an outlaw was based on those from his past and the stories he read. As an INFP it's a combination of experience and imagination into what he became by the time he took revenge on his father. Functions - Fi This pretty much was the major reason why he was compelled into becoming an outlaw. Out of the sense of moral upheaval to the injustices of the government against his father and his murder. Upon this Jack always felt like he wanted to feel like a worthy son to his dad due to John's lack of involvement in his childhood which also compelled him to fill his shoes. Ne- This comes out quite clearly in the creativity of the language he uses and use of concepts more so then basing everything on concrete reality but his own ideas. Si- The skills and attributes he learnt from John and his strong contentment for the law is rooted in his Si. John is clearly in a Ti-Si loop as his present feelings are all routed in the past and actions are of a consequence of this. Te- Again relating to John (and Abigail), Jack disregards why they wouldn't want him to take the life of an outlaw over a writer which would make more sense however his feelings take president. Although his Te was triggered by John's death as it was his attempt to take action which was caused to the stress it put on this function.

Biography

The son of John Marston and Abigail Roberts, Jack was born into an outlaw's world, staying at camp with his mother while his father went out robbing with the Van der Linde Gang. Not wanting their son to grow up the way they did and face the prospect of an early grave, John and Abigail tried their hardest to make sure he grew up educated and respectable. Unfortunately, by 1914, circumstances left him in just such a position, drifting across Mexico, the last living relic of the age of gunslingers...
