Ena Shinonome MBTI Personality Type

Personality

What personality type is Ena Shinonome? Ena Shinonome is an ISFP personality type in MBTI, 4w3 - sx/so - 468 in Enneagram, SLUEI in Big 5, ESI in Socionics.

While I do understand where 3w4 comes from due to Ena’s competitive nature and focus on her image, I think she fits the general profile of enneagram 4 better. Ena does show traits of enneagram 3, as she uses social media to present a favorable image and receive recognition, but in reality she does this to compensate for her feelings of inadequacy. As seen in the main story and the Unsatisfied Pale Color event story, Ena views herself as talentless compared to her group mates, relating to the enneagram 4 trait of feeling as if other people have something they are missing. In particular, she resents and is envious of Mafuyu, as she believes Mafuyu has talent, unlike her. Ena lashes out at Mafuyu in the main story for this reason, since she thinks Mafuyu is throwing away her talent, something Ena feels she will never have. In the first chapter of Unsatisfied Pale Color, Mizuki assumes that Ena must be happy that 25ji’s MV received a lot of views, and that “becoming popular and getting a huge amount of likes” is what’s important to Ena. Ena disagrees and tells them that while she does enjoy people looking at her art, she draws because she likes to draw. Ena is aware of what’s important to her and what she believes gives her significance, which is art. Even if she does not think her art is good and is discouraged by her father, she still pursues art because it is a key part of her identity (relating to enneagram 4), not because she wants to become popular. Similarly, when she sees that her art account hasn’t gotten any likes or comments, she realizes that she didn’t put that she is 25ji’s artist in the description. However, she decides not to indicate that she is 25ji’s artist even though it would get her more engagement because she wants her art to be appreciated for what it is. It is less likely that a type 3 would pass up this opportunity to gain more recognition, but Ena does so because she wants to be appreciated for her own talent. Ena says she wants “to be recognized as an artist, not 25ji’s artist,” showing she wishes to distinguish herself and have her own significance. Some differences between type 3 and 4 - From Naranjo’s “Character and Neurosis”: “While an ennea-type III person identifies with that part of the self that coincides with the idealized image, the enneatype IV individual identifies with that part of the psyche that fails to fit the idealized image, and is always striving to achieve the unattainable. Here is a person animated by a vanity that fails to reach its goal because of the admixture of the sense of scarcity and worthlessness (of point 5).” Misidentifying Threes and Fours: “The primary difference between these types can be seen in their relationship with their emotional life. Threes tend to focus on task, on efficiency, on performance… As Threes become less healthy, they increasingly see their own feelings as "speed bumps"–annoyances that must be dealt with but which interfere with their effectiveness.” “Fours are almost the exact opposite. Naturally, Fours want to accomplish things too, but when difficult feelings arise, Fours want to stop what they are doing and process them before returning to their tasks. Threes can see the Four's preoccupation with sorting feelings as unprofessional and immature. Fours can see the Three's obsession with performance as inauthentic and shallow.” I will try to post an explanation of her enneagram subtype in the replies later on but thank you for reading ^^
