𝐉𝐀𝐁𝐁𝐄𝐑 𝐈𝐒 𝐒𝐗𝟖 Let’s start with E7 Passion: Gluttony A value-order that places pleasure above everything. A felt current lack that seeks fulfillment by escaping into satisfaction, pleasure, and enthusiasm, leading to an intolerance of pain, negativity, or frustration. Savoring without digesting: taking from the world only its most exciting and tasteful aspects and specifically rejecting what causes pain. Fixation: Self-indulgence A cognitive support for immoderation that allows the E7 to replay the parent–child relationship in relationships with others. By means of words and creative fantasies they reshape others’ perceptual reality to match their desires, creating a permissive environment in which the E7’s selfish insatiability appears acceptable to others. Now E8 Passion: Lust Intensity, enthusiasm, contact, sensorimotor readiness, a passionate advocacy of desire/hedonism in life; a need to prove to oneself or others that things considered “bad” are not so bad; a need for stimulation/excitement (a tendency toward boredom); impatience, impulsivity; pleasure in fighting for pleasure. Pain (one’s own or others’ when overcoming obstacles) can become pleasurable when it satisfies impulses. Fixation: Rebellion Revolutionary activists, strongly opposed to authorities and traditional schooling. Living in an oppressive society, rebellion means fighting for what feels most natural to follow: one’s own impulsive desires, especially those tied to pleasure. Now let’s move on to why I think Jabber is an E8, not an E7 (as a fun fact, I fell for this myself and for a long time thought he was E7). The difference between them, and the reason I believe Jabber is E8 rather than E7, is this… E8 seeks new and extreme experiences, etc., whereas E7 simply tries to satisfy curiosity while avoiding any pain and basically anything that might make the E7 feel uncomfortable. Jabber does not flee pain or anything of that sort; on the contrary, he tries to maximize his pains and sensations to the extreme, which is exactly what E8 desires and what E7 flees from. The passion of E7 is Hunger, as I mentioned before, pleasure above all. An escape from suffering toward satisfaction, joy, enthusiasm. A rejection of pain, negativity, and frustration. Jabber does not reject pain in the slightest. And now the passion of E8: For the Eight it is Lust, it's the need for intensity, contact, stimulation; the pursuit of pleasure; impatience, impulsivity. Suffering (one’s own or others’) can bring satisfaction if it leads to fulfillment. I think that speaks for itself. Now why he is SX8 In this subtype Desire combines with the sexual instinct, producing a character that believes they have a right to their partner. In this type you often see overtly domineering, rebellious, and attention-seeking behavior, but this is an attempt to cover up their insecurity about being loved and desired. These people see relationships as conquests and want to hold power in those relationships. There is a polarity present in the sexual Eight: on one side is the sexual Eight who needs to feel powerful by dominating the whole environment and by taking control in relationships, trying to gain power over things and people; on the other side is the sexual Eight who surrenders to a partner they deem worthy, creating a passionate display of surrender while still very much wanting to remain in control. Ichazo called the SX8 “Possessiveness,” believing they have a right to their partner, and this tyrannical claim over the other is experienced as an exaggerated demand for love. Naranjo says these people take possession of others through fascination and threat. His cheerful disposition combined with provocativeness, what I mentioned earlier, and a strong drive to find a strong partner to fight with are clear indicators of SX8.
