Gen Asagiri MBTI Personality Type
Personality
What personality type is Gen Asagiri? Gen Asagiri is an ENTP personality type in MBTI, 7w6 - sp/so - 739 in Enneagram, SCUEI in Big 5, ILE in Socionics.
Genuinely cannot understand why he is considered a sexual 7. If you actually read into the different subtypes of each enneagram type (and DON'T apply instinctual variants as something separate to each type) he is absolutely not a sexual 7. Let's look at some of Beatrice Chestnut's description -- you can look up the rest online, but I'll be focusing on some central aspects: ■ "Individuals with this subtype are gluttons for things of the higher world, for idealization. This subtype is very idealistic and can be somewhat naive, in contrast to the Preservation Seven who is pragmatic." Gen is absolutely pragmatic and anything but naive. He may act the fool (key word being ACT), but he is remarkably observant and able to manipulate his conditions to his benefit, be it through his understanding of diplomacy and negotiation (and his shock at Senku's lack thereof when talking to Ukyo, or his honesty with regards to Nikki) or defending himself with packets of fake blood in anticipation of conflict. ■ "One-to-One Sevens have a passion for embellishing reality - for idealizing things and seeing the world as better than it actually is... display a bit too much enthusiasm and optimism and pay disproportionate attention to the positive data in a situation." Again, this does not apply to him. He is cynical and prepares for the worst, expecting to have to manipulate his way to gain what he desires rather than expecting to receive what he needs out of the good sentiments of others. He is cautious and careful, and his reactions at Senku's various scientific ambitions, while understandable considering that they're in the stone world, betray a fundamental hesitancy in his ability to defeat Tsukasa etc. I don't remember the exact episode but he initially states that whether or not Tsukasa or Senku wins is none of his concern, because he will be fine either way. While he does then change his mind on this matter, he first finds it necessary to observe Senku and assess his capabilities before blindly having faith in Senku's ideals. Sexual 7s, while by no means stupid, are much more idealistic and orientated towards the abstract; in contrast, Gen is much more attuned to sensory experience and the harsh, albeit cynical realities of how people function. Leading on from that: ■ "The title given to this type is Suggestibility, which is similar to seeing the world with imagination but it also has to do with being gullible, with being easy to hypnotize, and being susceptible to the infection of enthusiasm." I'm struggling to articulate my argument correctly because frankly to me it seems so painfully apparent that this does not represent him whatsoever. Easy to hypnotise? Susceptible to infection of enthusiasm? Although he does appear superficially warm (due to his tertiary Fe, more like) he has a cold Ti logic underneath which shows itself in his pragmatism and sense of self preservation. It is he who is the one hypnotising others for his own benefit, not the other way around! I'd argue that he is much more likely self preservation 7. Hopefully I have enough words for this, here are a few extracts, again from Chestnut, although Naranjo is also good for this kind of information: “KEEPERS OF THE CASTLE” ■ ... people who make alliances, who collect around them a kind of family network... sense of banding together and creating a good mafia or partisan group together. They rely only on those they trust.... element of self-interest in the alliances this Seven makes that can be denied by (or unconscious in) someone with this subtype. ■ ... very practical and good at getting what they want and finding a good deal: they tend to be opportunistic, self-interested, pragmatic, calculating, and very good at networking. ■ ... readily recognizes opportunities for creating an advantage. In this way gluttony expresses itself in an excessive concern to make a good deal at every opportunity. ■ The Self-Preservation subtype of Seven is cheerful and amiable, with traits that resemble a hedonistic “playboy” type of personal style. ■ The Self-Preservation Seven and the One-to-One Seven occupy opposite ends of the spectrum on several different character dimensions. There is a polarity between the heightened idealism of the One-to-One Seven and the lack of idealism in the Self- Preservation Seven and between the gullibility or suggestibility characteristic of the One-to-One Seven and the cynical distrust of the Self-Preservation subtype. (!!!!!!!) ■ Another polarity between these two subtypes also exists between being too much of a dreamer (sx) and being more “materialistic” and pragmatic (sp)... dominant trait of the Self-Preservation Seven stands out as a combination of a love of pleasure and self-interest, in contrast to the evasion of concreteness of the One-to-One Seven and the helpfulness of the Social Seven... more sensuous, earthy, and less idealistic character." Hopefully this is understandable lmao. PLEASE let his typing change!
