What personality type is Teruya Otori? Teruya Otori is an ESFJ personality type in MBTI, 9w1 - so/sx - 927 in Enneagram, SCOAI in Big 5, ESE in Socionics.
I used to agree with the consensus of him being a 9w8 but wing 8 Teruya makes absolutely no sense regarding to his character. I assume that people think he's a wing 8 because of his veryyyyy very very mad state in chapter 4, correct? Outside of Teruya's state in chapter 4, there's no components for him to be with wing 8 at all. Compare him to Emma that's a 9w8. Her 9 core with wing 8 usually shows when she tries to defend herself from accusation and also of course her absolute hatred towards any mentions of what she has been through. She reacts negatively to them in an attempt to defend herself or quickly change the subject so she wouldn't think about it. Teruya on the other hand should be w1 > w8. Despite Tsurugi's questionable sense of justice, Teruya is still willing to accept his ideals in a sense because he feels like it's meant to be for the greater good. The reason why Teruya snapped and went corrupt is due to him not wanting everyone to die and also he tries to be just like Tsurugi. A dependable do-good kind of thing. Instead of being a bit defensive, Teruya blames it on himself due to him not being able to protect everyone. He dwells on everything he done wrong and deems himself as nothing but a useless failure to everyone. The w1 in the core 9 will show apparent signs of being self critical or idealistic. Literally ALL of this. This seems to be Teruya's problem here. He usually doesn't assert his own decisions. Even though yes he's prone to anger, he seems to be more in letting out the idea of Tsurugi's ideals rather than what he wants for himself. Also I wonder why everyone seems to be settled in 926 > 927? Now that I realize it. Do Teruya actually have a desire in being protected and security? Besides the circumstances of the killing game of course. I wonder why hasn't anyone thought of the idea of him being triple positive? Tbh I'll add more to this thread once I gather more information but please elaborate w8 over w1. Also to add, 9w1s are a bit more on the easy-going and calmer side of the 9s than 9w8s. (In chapter 5) Here's some quotes that'll probably help in typing him. "But...even after losing my memories. I know very well that I'm a member of the Kisaragi Foundation. And yet I threatened and imprisoned you, when I should have been working hard to save you." "And you think I could stand up to Mikado just from recovering my memories after all that? ..............I don't even have the right to." Ps: I don't really know about you but! considering that 9 is supposed to be on the anger triad of the ennea types. I don't think it makes sense to just vote Teruya as a w8 because of how easily frustrated he was in chapter 4 and etc.
Biography
Teruya Otori (오오토리 테루야) is a character featured in the Korean fan game Danganronpa Another ~ Another Despair Academy ~, and later in the sequel Super Danganronpa Another 2, both created by game developer LINUJ. He used to be known as the Super High School Level Merchant (초고교급 상인), but since escaping his first killing game he is known as the Former Super High School Level Merchant (전 초고교급 상인).
