What personality type is Col. Miles Quaritch? Col. Miles Quaritch is an ESTJ personality type in MBTI, 8w7 - sx/so - 136 in Enneagram, SCOEN in Big 5, LSE in Socionics.

Note that Recom Quaritch is technically human Quaritch's son due to being a separate consciousness from a body that is a hybrid of his converted genetic information and one or multiple Navi and therefore is (sort of) Spider's half-brother and a different person apart from the implanted memories so should have a separate typing and profile with the newer one being designated for the Recom/Hybrid Son. Recom's verbal and body language even gradually changes back and forth over time and he clearly has issues with his self identity and whether he really even is a reincarnation of Quaritch or some other separate person that doesn't have to follow down the same path. In fact he even shows elements of contempt towards Quaritch from the start like he is a different and superior being. Both Human and Recom Quaritch are clear Te dominant characters but it would seem (Based on my viewings of the second film so far compared to the 13 years I've been rewatching and analysing the first) that not only is Recom more in touch and struggling with his Fi, but his conflict and dislike of Human Quaritch may be rooted in his own separate preferences of Ni and Se instead of Si and Ne. He inspects and analyses his environment (he can't keep his hands to himself during the tulkun hunt and amrita extraction especially) and future actions more thoroughly and accordingly instead of having the bulldozer approach. He has the same memories of Human Quaritch's many tours of duty but implements that information very differently and doesn't use it as gospel guiding his current and near future behaviour expecting consistent results without question or consideration of the different environments and challenges. From his perspective, Human Quaritch made idiotic mistakes that would have been seen a mile off had he considered long-term future consequences of his actions and took a tactical and planned approach (In fact the only major spanner in the works of his plan was his inability to predict an up until then highly improbable event). And here's this same idiot on screen acting like he was so much better than him whose tiny stupid boots he's expected to fill that he didn't even choose to be born into. And yet he still carries that human's memories and sees his motivations regardless of his own feelings and despite what he thinks about him, those memories and motivations are why he exists. He is programmed on a biological level to comply no matter how much he clearly wishes at points that he didn't have to or at least tries to figure out alternatives on the spot. But he also has a drive to please his superiors, to prove himself valuable to the RDA and worth the expense. He's pulled in multiple directions with his attempts to gain approval from who matters to him and trying to figure out actions on the spot. Human Quaritch would have straight up shot the Navi on the beach but you can see the gears in Recom's head turning when it's his turn to take action about how to send the same message without resorting to the same blunt monkey brained idiocy he hates Human Quaritch for as well as not drive Spider away who he sees as both a future and current asset and his only true kin. His bond with Spider isn't really based on a paternal one but the recognition that they both have to battle with who they are in ways that can be boiled down to the same question: Are we his legacy or not? They are both literally given the same official first name of their shared genetic parent and while he has still kept his (for now), Spider has rejected it. Highlighting their strong ideological contrast. Yet he DESPERATELY wants Spider's approval even if it goes against the little angry implanted human voice in his head. Unfortunately for him he thinks hiding Spider away from seeing his worst actions will be enough to keep him on side. "If we turn up the heat, he's just gonna keep running. We gotta draw him out." "And how might we test this hypothesis, general?" "You're his, aren't you... You're his, alright." "No depth charges. Scoresby, you copy? These kids are worthless to me dead."
