Personality

What personality type is Yorgos Lanthimos? Yorgos Lanthimos is an INTP personality type in MBTI, 4w5 - sp/sx - 458 in Enneagram, in Big 5, ILI in Socionics.

His movies tend to be centered around inviolable laws of society or power and how they affect those confined within them. In Dogtooth, the parents' rule is absolute and the mini-universe created subjugated to that primary principle. In The Lobster, relationships are controlled by either the hotel or the resistance in the forest. To a lesser extent, in The Killing of a Sacred Deer, the antagonist's magic rules supreme. Lanthimos builds worlds in accordance with a rulebook and examines how human rebellion against that which is preordained might develop even though it ends in futility from what I've seen. First comes the system (Ti) based on "naturally" accepted norms (child Si), then comes its reliability tested in various scenarios (Ne) by people who are comically awkward and whose interaction is transactional (weak Fe). Given the dystopian ambience of the whole thing and the despair unfolding within the protagonists you could as well argue that his work is a criticism of this exemplary INTP world scheming. If you believe the director himself empathizes with his characters instead of using them to successfully deliver a blending of genres in his tragicomedies you could imagine he's a type with a grudge against the aforementioned focal aspects of his work.
