What personality type is Sugawara Koushi? Sugawara Koushi is an INFJ personality type in MBTI, 2w1 - so/sx - 962 in Enneagram, SCOAI in Big 5, ESE in Socionics.
Reposting a comment I’ve made on two separate threads that suggests Ni: Episode 21: He observes from the sidelines and sees patterns in how the players on the other team play, which allows him for form a holistic vision (Ni) of how they will react in certain scenarios. That allows him to essentially advise his teammates on how to react because he can predict what the opposing team will do, based on nothing but the assumptions he arrives at through his pattern-seeking mind. An example is how he switches places with Tsukishima because he knows that the opposing team will probably aim for himself, since it's a pattern he's observed before. Tsukishima's height makes him a great blocker, so doing that allows them to score an easy point (around 4:30). Another one right after is when he tells Hinata to not panic and jump higher because he knows that the center will do a quick set right after (5:30-5:50ish). He shows great insight into the psychology of all his teammates too and knows what to say when to get a desired response, as well as who is a good person for him to pass to at a specific moment due to their mindset (like his decision to set for Tanaka at 15:58ish). This is probably more Fe, but I think his deep insight is in part from seeing the underlying patterns and motivations of his teammates, which can arise from Ni forming a holistic picture/grasping the essence of why a person behaves a certain way. Essentially, he becomes the brains for the team in that match. Quite similar to how Oikawa, a great ENFJ psychological manipulator, does so too for his team. Not super detailed, but if you rewatch it I think it becomes clear.

Kōshi Sugawara (Japanese: 菅原孝支,Sugawara Kōshi) was previously a third-year at Karasuno High School; for the majority of the series, he was the vice-captain and substitute setter for the volleyball team.
