Personality

What personality type is Hinata Shoyo? Hinata Shoyo is an ESFP personality type in MBTI, 7w8 - sx/so - 738 in Enneagram, SCUAI in Big 5, SEE in Socionics.

(His name is spelled: 日向 翔陽, someone please remove the furigana) I don't understand how people can see Ne on this child. The inf. Si reasonings doesn't make sense. His kind of reactions is not in line with someone who has sensation functions as an inferior. Si isn't really raw instinctual reactions to stimuli like what Hinata shows us in the anime and in the manga, Si impressions are known to take its time to become established for the user, but Hinata's responses are more corresponding with the high stack Se and inf. Ni axis (the stereotypical "not looking before you leap" which is essentially what Hinata does): instantaneous reactions with hyper-awareness of the present stimuli, being so highly reactive within the moment. Processing the information even before he can actually make sense of it. This is what an Se-Te feedback does- moves the user forward through instincts (because they still have Ni realizations even if it's inconsistent). It's a huge plus that he's naturally gifted with his legs' impressive jumping power (biological lottery won) and a stamina that can match his Fi's earnestness of his love for volleyball. The formula for a intuitive athlete. "Intuitive" meaning: a.) having the ability to know or understand things without any proof or evidence b.) based on or agreeing with what is known or understood without any proof or evidence : known or understood by intuition. He chases after the sensation he gets when he hits the ball in the court and scores that point- and he keeps repeating how good this feels for him. The sheer joy it brings him to have that experience. It's so immense in that moment that it's so infectious when you watch him go through it. That is so much Se-Fi indulgence. This is what Hinata continually shows us surprisingly quite consistently through the narrative: Se-Fi-Te I hope it's not just me nitpicking on this kid's Ti blind spot, but his manner of speaking, especially when he needs to get his point across and he doesn't have the proper adjectives is to imitate the would-be-sound of the movement he's talking about (when he's saying "the movement is like GWAAH and then it goes POHN!") : this is due to the fact that Se isn't an easily verbalized function. It's difficult for ESFPs to stop and ponder about the exactness of words to express the depth of sensations they could just FEEL- Se's strength is being able to live in the moment of a sensation, of a movement to fully embrace an ongoing experience, to be present in reality and what it can give the high stack Se user. I think this depth of sensation will be difficult to put into words when we can't easily share an actual innate reaction. Even as a Japanese speaker I find his manner of speech exceptionally quirky because of this, and the fact that I have no Se. High stack Ne users would always be able to find some sort of metaphor because we have Ne-Si. But Hinata doesn't, he needs to get his point across now. He speaks with a sense of urgency when he's super excited. I don't know if it's the same meaning in English (pun) but we have this thing called "dajare": certain kanji characters will sound similar if you rhyme them in a play on words and this is something high Ne Japanese speakers do. Hinata doesn't show this type of speech pattern (of course it's not the only way Ne can be expressed, but it's what's typical). The times he does space out, he's trying to chase after the inf. Ni imagery: "the Little Giant never stopped jumping... The ace is amazing." he's not exploring possibilities. He's hyperfocusing on an unconscious essence. "ESFPs are more likely to be the types that socialize through a shared activity, rather than socializing for the sake of socializing. They won’t want to just sit around and think about something; they’ll want to jump into action and “just do it”. (Please don’t take this to mean Se users never think – healthy Se drives someone toward making a goal or accomplishment a reality, essentially launching them into action) Obviously, an Se user could easily be lazy in regards to something they don’t want to do, or something that doesn’t please their senses."- https://practicaltyping.com/ESFP/ I agree that intuitives can be talented athletes too, of course, it's not impossible. I had 2 sports scholarships in high school for baseball and taekwondo. But we're looking at his learning style, natural data processing capacity, reaction to situations and the people around him and temperamental dispositions. Hinata Shoyo is just one of those true ESFPs.
